• Maintenance Mechanic Position
The Housing Authority of the City of Fitzgerald, Georgia is seeking a qualified individual to perform the duties of a Maintenance Mechanic.  This position is responsible for the performance of maintenance functions to buildings, grounds, appliances, HVAC systems and equipment owned and operated by the Housing Authority in its overall operations.  The individual should have knowledge of and manual skills in repairing such items as plumbing fixtures, electrical items such as switches and lighting fixtures, stoves, refrigerators, windows, doors and mechanical equipment.  May be required to work under adverse conditions such as sleet, snow, heat, cold, dust, and dirt.
Preferred candidate should be a graduate of a Technical College.  Certification and/or license in HVAC are a plus with desired abilities in one or more of the following crafts: electrical, plumbing, masonry, carpentry, painting and utility services and any equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience that provides the required knowledge and abilities. Equivalent experience in an industrial or commercial establishment would be considered sufficient.
 Possession of a valid driver's license is required.  Also, must be able to be covered under the Housing Authority's fidelity bond.
Salary is commensurate with education and experience.  As part of the pre-employment process, the selected candidate will be required to submit to a physical, drug screening and a criminal history check.

Effective: August 7, 2017
Overview: Responsible for the coordination and implementation of the Ben Hill County Abstinence Education Program. Schedule and facilitate abstinence education curriculum and positive youth development activities through the Ben Hill County Abstinence Education Program. Additional responsibilities will include assisting with parent and community education. Collaborate with school staff to make appropriate linkages to needed academic, physical or social services to children in need. Successfully match and retain volunteers with students for identified program needs.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree or demonstrated relevant equivalent experience in education, social work or related field. Experience in working with school-age children. Ability to work with people of diverse cultural backgrounds. Effective written and verbal communication skills. Willingness and ability to tutor students. Familiarity with local health and human service agencies. Flexibility, resourcefulness, enthusiasm and high energy. Must have a valid driver’s license and automobile insurance. Criminal background check required.
Salary: $18 -$25 per hour based on experience
