PATIENTS LIKE DMC
Today’s consumers are looking for value. They want value not just in the products they purchase, but the services they receive. There are few instances where service is more important than when they are sick. A recent survey implemented by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), a division of the federal Department of Health and Human Services, ranks Dorminy Medical Center at the very top in patient satisfaction. Ninety percent of survey respondents answered either a 9 or 10, with 10 being the highest, on questions involving the level of care received while a patient at DMC.

'FOREVER' IS NOW
Postal rates are going up by one cent Monday, but many Fitzgerald area residents are holding off the inevitable by taking advantage of the U.S. Postal Service’s “Forever” stamps. “Forever” stamps purchased at current prices can still be used to mail one-ounce, first class letters even after the rates change. “We’ve sold quite a bit of the ‘Forever’ stamps,” postal clerk Jennifer Childers said Monday afternoon. “I just sold a bundle of 100 sheets today.”

YOU TELL US
POLL RESULTS
Where would we be without cell phones — they give us instant communication whenever we need it. But some question whether cell phone usage in schools is appropriate. For parents, the phones mean they're never more than a call away from their child. For teachers, they mean students may be text messaging each other for a good part of their classroom time instead of paying attention. Should cell phones be allowed in the class room? You tell us in this week's poll. If you have more to say on the subject, send us an e-mail. Voters in our last poll favor Mike Huckabee as a running mate for John McCain by 40 percent. Forty-four of 110 respondants picked Huckabee, while 25, or 23%, said it wouldn't matter. Condoleeza Rice, with 20 votes, was the second most popular choice, followed by Mitt Romney, with 13. Eight said they would pick someone not on the list.
